The Ven Kevin Roberts

Kevin was the Director of ReSource from April 2016 until his retirement in September 2021. He is still passionate about a ministry that is very close to his heart and is continuing in an active role as a ReSource Minister and Alongside Companion. He is also learning some new rhythms of life in retirement and exploring what ministry will look like in this new season, with a fresh balance of taking in, giving out and being more available to Anne and his family. Kevin and Anne live in Shrewsbury and have three grown up children and six grandchildren, currently living in Thailand and the UK. Kevin is Chair of the SOMA UK Trustees (ReSource’s overseas partner), the Simeons Trustee for the West Midlands and a speaker for The Filling Station.

Kevin came to faith in Christ while studying history at Queens' College, Cambridge, where he also received his call to ordained ministry in the Church of England. He trained at St John's Nottingham and did his BA in Theology at the University of Nottingham before doing a Curacy at Beverley Minster. Subsequent ministry took Kevin to Reading as Curate in Charge of St James', Woodley; then to Shrewsbury for eighteen years as Vicar of Meole Brace (for ten of which he was the Rural Dean of Shrewsbury, and for most of those years a Prebendary of Lichfield Cathedral); and then to Cumbria for seven years where he was Archdeacon of Carlisle and a Residentiary Canon of Carlisle Cathedral.

In Carlisle Kevin was also the Deliverance Advisor for the Diocese and Chair of the Carlisle Diocesan Board of Education with responsibility for diocesan work with children and young people in the County, as well as leading the development of an internship programme and a fresh expression of church for young people, networked across Cumbria. He led regular retreats at Rydal Hall. Kevin speaks of ministry as “an exhilarating ministry-ride”, and his heart remains firmly in local church leadership and a longing to see churches engaging with the Word and the Spirit.

Kevin has had long links with Anglican Renewal Ministries and SOMA UK and was a Trustee of ReSource before being called to be its Director. He led the charity through the ReSource Future process, a change of office location, and into a fresh vision for its future. Oh, and he supports Middlesbrough FC, which tells you a bit about his roots.
