Revd Garrie & Mrs Jill Griffiths

Garrie and Jill were both born in Cheshire and met and married young. Garrie was ordained at the tender age of 23 and, following a year in the Diocese of the Arctic (Canada), they settled into ministry in England, serving in Cheshire, Shropshire, Suffolk and Derbyshire. Jill spent her time looking after their two sons, teaching flute and piano part-time, and helping out in the parish with music and home groups.

For both Garrie and Jill one of the most satisfying and rewarding parts of ministry has been the leading of retreats, quiet days and parish weekends. One parish priest sums them up, “Garrie and Jill Griffiths ministered to us gently and powerfully, through words and music, song and silence, inviting us to ‘Come close to God’.”

Garrie’s early retirement prompted a move to Suffolk. He and Jill regularly help out at their local church in Woodbridge. They play music together (Jill - flute, Garrie - guitar and songwriting) at retreats and the like, at church, and occasionally at social events.

Jill still teaches part-time and they both volunteer with the National Trust. They enjoy walking by the creeks, rivers and coast. Last, but not least, they love seeing their family – especially the four Grandchildren!
